Question 53797: 3 (k - 4) = -36
If I understand the rule right I am suppose to
3k + 12 = -36
3k = 15 = -36/15
k = -2.4
but this is the wrong answer can you tell me what to do

Answer by stanbon(48558) About Me  (Show Source):
You can put this solution on YOUR website!
3 (k - 4) = -36
Use the distributive law to get:
3k-12=-36
Add 12 to both sides to get:
3k=-24
Divide both sides by 3 to get:
k=-8
