y = (1/3)x+b

-6 = (1/3)(0)+b

-6 = 0+b

-6 = b

The slope-intercept form of an equation is y=mx+b. The slope is m, and the y-intercept is b.


In this case the slope is given as m=1/3, and the y-intercept (y value when x=0) is given as -6. That's from the given (x,y), the coordinates of a point, (0,-6).
y=(1/3)x - 6.


Check some x-values to find corresponding y-values. Since this is a line, two points are enough, then draw the line that touches both. When x=0, y=-6. When x=3, y=-5.
