Multiply the 1st equation by -2, add to the 2nd equation
-6x + 2y = -10
+ x - 2y = 11
----------------adding eliminates y, find x
-5x = 1

Use the 2nd equation to find y
-.2 - 2y = 11
-2y = 11 + .2
-2y = 11.2
y =
y = -5.6

Check those solutions in the 1st equation
3x - y = 5
3(-.2) - (-5.6) = 5
