Determine whether the graph of the equation is perpendicular.
6y-x=-12
1/6x +y =3

Find the slope, m, of each equation.
To do that, solve for y
6y-x=-12
6y = x - 12
y = (1/6)x - 2
The slope is the coefficient of x, 1/6

Do the other eqn:
1/6x +y =3
y = (-1/6)x + 3
The slope is -1/6

If they're perpendicular, the slopes are negative inverses, or their product is -1

(1/6)*(-1/6) = -1/36, not -1, so they're not perpendicular.

To be perpendicular, the 2nd slope would be -6, not -1/6
