using the substitution method to solve the linear system what is the answer to y=x-4
4x+y=26
----
Substitute for "y" and solve for "x":
4x + (x-4) = 26
5x = 30
x = 6
-----
solve for "y":
y = x-4
y = 6-4 = 2
=================
solution: (6,2)
