Question 526021: what is the equation of the line when the x intercept is 2 and contains the point (4,-5)
Answer by mananth(16949) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
x1 y1 x2 y2
2 0 4 -5
slope m = (y2-y1)/(x2-x1)
( -5 - 0 )/( 4 - 2 )
( -5 / 2 )
m= -5/ 2
Plug value of the slope and point (2, 0) in
Y = m x + b
0.00 = -5 + b
b= 0 - 5
b= -5
So the equation will be
Y = -5/2x-5
