Question 515309: Without solving or graphing, can you say whether the solution set to the
following systems have zero, one, or infnitely many members? Can you also explain why?
1.)
y = 4x - 7
y = 3x + 2

2.)
y = 3x - 6
y = 3x + 1

3.)
-2x + 3y = 2
6y - 4X = 4

Answer by mananth(16946)   (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
1.)
y = 4x - 7
y = 3x + 2
This ahs one solution. The slopes are different and the y intercepts are not the same. So trhey will intersect

2.)
y = 3x - 6
y = 3x + 1
the slopes of the lines are same and the y intercepts are different. So zero solution. As the lines will never meet.

3.)
-2x + 3y = 2
6y - 4X = 4

When you multiply the first equation by 2 you find that both lines are identical. same slope , same intercept. It means that the lines coincide and has innumerable solutions
