I'm also having difficulty retaining the rules of multiplication, subtraction, addition and division. So many rules to remember before I'm able to tackle problems with mixed signs as well. Any tricks to remember them?This question is from textbook Beginning Algebra

#39. 5t+3+2t-6t=4+12
5t+2t-6t = 16-3
t = 13
#45. 5/7x + 1/3 = 2/5 - 2/7x + 2/5
5/7x+2/7x = 2/5-1/3+2/5
7/7x = (6-5+6)/5
x = 7/5

#55. -2(8p+2)-3(2-7p)-2(4+2p)=0
-16p-4-6+21p-8-4p= 0
-16p+21p-4p = 4+6+8
p = 18
#58 some thing wrong as there is no equal sign

To solve these kinds of problems U must move the algebrical stuffs to one side and the the numerical values to the other side of equal sign. remember to move one side to other side U must chage the sign like positive to negative.
and is P- represents positive and N represents negative then
P*P=P
N*N=P
N*P =N
P*N = N
