Question 504155: How do I solve 4(x+3)^2-2=62?
Answer by jim_thompson5910(35256) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
4(x+3)^2-2=62
4(x^2+6x+9)-2=62
4x^2+24x+36-2=62
4x^2+24x+36-2-62=0
4x^2+24x-28=0
4(x^2+6x-7)=0
x^2+6x-7=0/4
x^2+6x-7=0
(x-1)(x+7)=0
x-1 = 0 or x+7 = 0
x = 1 or x = -7
So the solutions are x = 1 or x = -7
