Question 502866: Perpendicular to y=-1/2x+1, passing through the point (5,-4)
Answer by jim_thompson5910(35256)   (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
Original slope = -1/2
Perpendicular slope = 2 (negative reciprocal of original slope)

y = mx+b
y = 2x+b
-4 = 2(5)+b
-4 = 10+b
-4-10 = b
-14 = b
So the answer is y = 2x-14
