SOLUTION: For my question y = 2x + 2, is that the same as y < 2x+ 2? I also need to graph it.
I tried to solve is like this:
2x + 2 = 0
subtract 2 from each side
2x = -2

Question 5026: For my question y = 2x + 2, is that the same as y < 2x+ 2? I also need to graph it.
I tried to solve is like this:
2x + 2 = 0
subtract 2 from each side
2x = -2
2* -1 = -2
therefore, x = -1.
to graph it I would start at x = -1 and / to y = 2 ?
Answer by longjonsilver(2297) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
y=2x+2 is a straight line that crosses the x-axis at -1 (the root you found in your working out). Where does it cross the y-axis? this is where x=0, so put x=0 into the equation, and we get y=2(0) + 2 --> y=2.
So draw a set of axis. Plot the 2 points (-1,0) and (0,2) and get a ruler and join them.
As for y<2x+2.. it is everything "less than"...so all the space below the line.
As for y>2x+2.. it is everything "greater than"...so all the space above the line.
