Question 490468: Determine whether the given pairs of lines are parallel, coincident or intersecting?
L: 2x+y=4
M: 2x-y=8

Answer by mananth(16946)   (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
2x+y=4
2x-y=8
rewrite both the equations
y= -2x+4
y=2x-8 the slopes of the lines are neither same nor reciprocal of each other. So they should intersect.
add both equations
2y= -4
y=-2
if y= -2
x=3
