the y intercept is the value of x when y is equal to 0.
your equation is:
y = -(2/3)*x - 2
when x = 0, y is equal to -2
when y is equal to 0, the equation becomes:
0 = -(2/3)*x - 2
add 2 to both sides of this equation to get:
2 = -(2/3)*x
multiply both sides of this equation by -(3/2) to get:
-(3/2)*2 = -(2/3)*x*(-(3/2)) which becomes:
-3 = x
