Question 471485: Can you help me solve this equation: find the value of x so that the line joining the points (x,3) and (2.1) is parallel to the line joining (x,5) and (-2,2).
Answer by mananth(16946) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
(x,3) and (2.1) is parallel to the line joining (x,5) and (-2,2).
the slopes of both lines will be same
(1-3)/(2-x)= (2-5)/(-2-x)
-2/(2-x)=-3/(-2-x)
-2(-2-x)=-3(2-x)
4+2x=-6+3x
3x-2x=10
x=10
