Hi,
2x - 3y = 9
(0,-3)& (9/2,0) are the y- and x-intercepts
Answer by algebrahouse.com(1659) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website! To find the x-intercept, put 0 in for y:
2x - 3y = 9
2x - 3(0) = 9 {substituted 0 in for y}
2x = 9 {multiplied 3 by 0}
x = 9/2 {divided both sides by 2}
x-intercept = 9/2.....or 4 1/2
To find the y-intercept, put 0 in for x:
2x - 3y = 9
2(0) - 3y = 9 {substituted 0 in for x}
-3y = 9 {multiplied 2 by 0}
y = -3 {divided both sides by -3}
y-intercept = -3
To graph:
- put a point on 4 1/2 on the x-axis
- put a point on -3 on the y-axis
- draw a line through the two points
