Question 469862: 2x+y=1
x+y=3
Answer by sofiyac(983) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
2x+y=1
x+y=3 Multiply second equaiton by -2 and add it to the first one
2x+y=1
-2x-2y=-6 now add them
-y=-5 divide each side by -1
y=5 now plug that into either of the original equations and solve for x
x+5=3
x=-5+3
x=-2
so the solution is (-2,5), that's where both lines cross
