To find the x-intercept (where it crosses the x-axis), put 0 in for y:
3x + 5y + 15 = 0
3x + 5(0) + 15 = 0 {substituted 0 in for y}
3x + 15 = 0 {multiplied 5 by 0}
3x = -15 {subtracted 15 from both sides}
x = -5 {divided both sides by 3}
x-intercept = -5.....coordinates are (-5,0) where it crosses the x-axis

To find the y-intercept (where it crosses the y-axis), put 0 in for x:
3x + 5y + 15 = 0
3(0) + 5y + 15 = 0 {substituted 0 in for x}
5y + 15 = 0 {multiplied 3 by 0}
5y = -15 {subtracted 15 form both sides}
