Question 465056: what are slope intercepts and how do i go about determining what the x and the y are?
Answer by mananth(16946) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
Slope intercepts are points where the line intersects the x & y axes.
example 2x+3y=6
At the point the line intersects the y axis x is equal to 0.
Plug x= 0 in the equation. 0+3y=6
3y=6
y=2
So the y intecept is 2 and the line intersects the y axis at (0,2)
At the point the line intersects the x axis y is equal to 0.
Plug y= 0 in the equation. 2x+0=6
2x=6
x=3
So the x intecept is 3 and the line intersects the x axis at (3,0)
