Question 461175: find the solution of the following system of linear equations:
3x+y=8
-2x+y=-7

Answer by mananth(16946)   (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
3 x + 1 y = 8 .............1
-2 x + 1 y = -7 .............2
Multiply (2) by -1
3 x + 1 y = 8
2 x + -1 y = 7
Add the two equations
5 x = 15
/ 5
x = 3
plug value of x in (1)
3 x + 1 y = 8
9 + 1 y = 8
1 y = 8 -9
1 y = -1
y = -1
