Question 455303: i need help writing an equation for this (2,3); x+4y=9
Answer by oberobic(2304) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
I assume you mean you want to know if the line goes through (2,3)?
.
First, get the equation into slope-intercept form: y = mx + b
x +4y = 9
Subtract x from both sides
4y = -x +9
Divide both sides by 4
y = -x/4 + 9/4
That's means the slope = -1/4.
.
When x=0, y=9/4, which is the y-intercept
.
When x = 2, y = ?
y = -2/4 + 9/4
y = 7/4
.
So the line does not go through (2,3).
.
Graphing the line may be helpful.
