The point (-2, 2) is just ONE ordered pair solution...there are an infinite number of them...but to verify that it is indeed a solution, merely plug -2 in for x and 2 in for y and see if the equation becomes a true statement...so we have
2 = (-1/3)(-2) + 4/3
2 = 2/3 + 4/3
2 = 6/3
2 = 2
It checks out okay...
