: Find the equation of the line that is parallel to 3x+2y=4 and has the same horizontal intercept as 2x-y=8.
I can't get past solving each equation to y = -3/2x+2 and y= 2x-8. the parallel part is throwing me.
Thank you in advance for your help.

You can put this solution on YOUR website!
Find the equation of the line that is parallel to 3x+2y=4 and has the same horizontal intercept as 2x-y=8.
I can't get past solving each equation to y = -3/2x+2 and y= 2x-8. the parallel part is throwing me.
-------------------------------------------------------
Parallel to y=(-3/2)x+2 means your line has a slope of -3/2
Same horizontal intercept as y=2x-8 means "when x=0,y=-8
So your line passes through the point (0,-8).
--------------------------------------------------------
And the equation of your line must be y=(-3/2)x-8
