Hi,
Using the point-slope formula,
(5,7) and
(8,1) m = 6/-3 = -2
Note: the standard slope-intercept form for an equation of a line y = mx + b
where m is the slope and b the y-intercept.

y = -2x + b
1 = -2*8 + b
17 = b
y = -2x + 17
