Question 433729: Hello , could you please help with this question. I have searched to see if this has been answered with these particular numbers and I do not see one.
How do I find the equation in slope-intercept form passing through the points (2,5) and (7,-3).
Could you show me the formula and how it is solved? Thank you.

Answer by ankor@dixie-net.com(22740)   (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
find the equation in slope-intercept form passing through the points (2,5) and (7,-3).
:
Find the slope using the slope formula: m =
Assign the coordinates as follows:
x1=2; y1=5
x2=7; y2=-3
:
m = = is the slope
:
Use the point/slope formula to find the equation: y - y1 = m(x - x1)
y - 5 = (x - 2)
y - 5 = x - 2()
y - 5 = x +
y = x + + 5
y = x + +
y = x + is the point/intercept equation
:
:
You can prove this to yourself, replace x with 2, see if y = 5
Do the same with x=7, does y = -3?
