Here are two methods to solve this problem. You decide which one is easier for you. The first method is for everyone who hates fractions, and wants to get rid of them in the first step. Begin by multiplying both sides by the common denominator to eliminate the fractions.

Multiply each side by 5:

(This next step is VERY important!)
Divide out the 5. Do NOT multiply 5 times 2x!!

Next, subtract 2x from each side:

Divide each side by 3, and you get

It doesn't come out even, but then life usually doesn't!!

Another way to solve this is to not even worry about the denominators, and just subtract from each side of the equation. This gives you:

Now multiply both sides by the reciprocal of which is , and you get:
