Question 426030: Could someone please show me step by step how to do these problems?
1. use the intercepts to graph the equation -x+3y=6
2. graph the line containing the given pair of points find the slope (-1,4),(4,1)

Hi
1. use the intercepts to graph the equation
-x+3y=6 |When x = 0 then y = 2 and when y=0 then x = -6
Points (0,2) and (-6,0) on the Line
Plotting these points and connecting with a line

2. graph the line containing the given pair of points find the slope:
Using the point-slope formula,
(-1,4)
( 4,1) m = 3/-5
Using the standard slope-intercept form for an equation of a line y = mx + b
where m is the slope and b the y-intercept.
y = (-3/5)x + b |using order pair (-1,4) to solve for b
4 = 3/5 + b
17/5 = b
y = (-3/5)x + 17/5
