Question 423892: Find an equation of the line that satisfies the given conditions. (a) write the equation in slope-y intercept form. (b) write the equation in standard form.
(2, -7); perpendicular to 5x+2y=18
Answer by linht117(37) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
perpendicular line= opposite reciprocal
parallel line= same slope
5x-5x+2y=18-5x
2/2y=(18-5x)/2
y=-5/2 x+9
slope=-5/2 x
opposite reciprocal=2/5 x
use point slope
y – y1 = m(x – x1)
y -(-7)= 2/5(x-(2))
y+7 = 2/5x - 4/5
a)y = 2/5x -39/5
b)y-2/5x = -39/5
