1. How do I find the equation of the line passing through the point (1,1) and parallel to y=5x-6?
2. How do I find the equation of the line passing through the point (1,5) and parallel to 4x+7y=18?

parallel means the lines have the same slope , which means the x and y coefficients stay the same

what changes is the constant term ___ find the new constant term by plugging in the coordinates of the new point

1. (1) = 5(1) + ? ___ 1 = 5 + ? ___ -4 = ?
___ the new equation is ___ y = 5x - 4

2. 4(1) + 7(5) = ?
