If a line that passes through the points (-3,2k) and (k,6) has a slope of 4, find the value of k.
.
Because,
slope = (y2 - y1)/(x2 - x1)
.
plug in what was given:
4 = (6 - 2k)/(k - (-3))
4 = (6 - 2k)/(k + 3)
4(k + 3) = (6 - 2k)
4k + 12 = 6 - 2k
6k + 12 = 6
6k = -6
k = -1
