solving for y puts the equation into slope-intercept form ___ y = -2x + 1
the line crosses the y-axis at (0,1) , the y-intercept
the slope of the line is -2 ___ for every unit in the positive x direction (to the right)
___ the line goes down 2 units in the negative y direction
when the line goes in the negative x direction (to the left), it also goes up in the positive y direction

how do you this problem so can graph it 2x+y=1
..
2x+y=1
y=-2x+1
..
generate values for y from various values of x
x=0,y=1........(0,1)
y=0,x=1/2.......(1/2,0)
..
plot these points and draw the line graph.
...
check to see whether the slope is -2 from the graph.
