Answer by ankor@dixie-net.com(22740) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
: Find the intercepts of the given equation. Express each as an ordered pair
Y=5x+10
:
The y intercept occurs when x = 0, replace x with 0 and find y
y = 5(0) + 10
y = 0 + 10
y = 10
0, 10 is the y intercept
:
The x intercept occurs when y = 0. Replace y with 0 and find x
0 = 5x + 10
subtract 10 from both sides
-10 = 5x
divide both sides by 5
-2 = x
-2, 0 is the x intercept
:
You can see it on the graph also, the line intercepts the x axis at -2 and
intercepts the y axis at +10
