Question 388664: i need to compare a yearly pass to a zoo versus a daily pass and determine which is most cost effective.I have to solve the system of equations algebraically and graph it as well. I need to include the mathematical operations used.
for example: the cost of a yearly membership to the zoo is $80.00 per family and the daily cost is $15.00 per adult and $5.00 for each child.
My hypothetical customer has 2 children and plans to attend approximately 24 times per year.
How should I word my equations? if y=total cost, then what is b? I think m stands for the daily cost, so x must = visits.
Help please.
Answer by jim_thompson5910(35256) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
If we let a = number of adults and c = number of children, then the total daily cost for 'a' adults is and the total daily cost for 'c' children is
Add these up to get . So the total daily cost is
If your hypothetical family has 1 adult and 2 children, then and meaning that the total daily cost is
If they plan to visit 24 times a year, this means that the yearly cost is then dollars
So in this case, it's definitely cheaper to buy the $80 annual membership.
