Question 383852: what is the solution for this equation using the comparison method of algebraic method.with a checking solution also.
1/x - 2/y = 6 and

3/x + 5/y = 4

Answer by edjones(8007)   (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
1/x - 2/y = 6
3/x + 5/y = 4
.
y-2x=6xy Multiply each side by xy
3y+5x=4xy Ditto
.
3y-6x=18xy multiply by 3
3y+5x= 4xy
------------subtract
-11x=14xy
.
-11=14y
y=-11/14
x=11/38
