The domain is all the valid x-values
The range is all the valid y-values (for the specified x-values).

So, the possible x-values? Well, we can have ANY x-value. All work. So we say xeR meaning x belongs to the set of Real numbers.

Given the fact that we can have any x-value, what values of y do we get?, well we get anything greater or equal to zero...nothing negative, so the range is yeR, y>=0.

This says, again, that we can have number in the Real set (ie an integer, a fraction, irrational, rational) BUT it has to be greater or equal to zero.

OK?
