Question 374872: Hello. I pretty much have the answer but not sure what is the final answer. It says find an equation of hte line containing the pair of points (7,0)and (0,6). I switched them around for my own sanity. (0,6) (7,0); 0 - 6/ 7 - 0 = -6/0 is the answer I came up with. Is this the final answer??
Your help is appreciated.

We need to find the equation of the line written in y = mx + b form, where m is the slope and b is the y-intercept.

We first find the slope of the line.

m = (difference of y values)/(difference of x values)

Let m = slope of the line

m = (0 - 6)/(7 - 0)

m = -6/7...This is our slope.

We now plug the slope and one of the given points (your choice which point to use) into the point-slope formula.

I will use the point (7,0) but you can use the other point if you'd like.

The point-slope formula is: y - d = m(x - c).

Let d = 0

Let c = 7

Let m = -6/7

We now plug and chug.

y - 0 = (-6/7)(x - 7)

y = (-6/7)(x) + 6....This is your equation.
