Question 373759: Consider the line y=-2/5x+1
Find the equation of the line that is parallel to this line and passes through the point (-6,2)
Find the equation of the line that is perpendicular to this line and passes through the point (-6,2)

Answer by danisanders021(4)   (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
y=(-2x/5)+1
y=mx=b
m=-2/5
get negative reciprocal
mperp=5/2
y=mx+b
y=5/2times x+b
y=5/2 times -6+b
2=5/2 times -6+b
(-15)+b=2
b=17
y=(5x/2)+17
Parallel
y=-2/5 times -6+b
2=(-2/5) times6+b
12/5+b=2
b=-2/5
y=(-2x/5)-2/5
