this means that for value of x= 5 & y=1 the equation is true or valid.

(5,1) is the solution to equation 2x-3y= 7. What does this mean?
This means if you substitute your solutions which are (5,1) for (x,y), Then your equation should be true. If it is true then your answer must be 7=7. If your answer is not 7, then (5,1) is not a solution to your equation.
So let work it out: x=5 & y=1
2x-3y=7 Now we replace X with 5 and Y with 1
2(5)- 3(1)=7
10 - 3 =7
7 = 7 That is a truw statement!
