I would like to know the steps in solving the following type of problem:
Solving a system by Substitution:
y=3x
2x+3y=22
You are asked to solve the system by using the substitution method

Use the information in the first equation and plug it into (substitute it into) the second one.


Now simply and solve for x


Divide both sides by 11

Now that you have solved for x, substitute that value for x back into the first equation and solve for y



Now check you answer using the second equation



which is true so x=2 and y=6 are the answers
