Question 359992: How do I find the linear equation of a line. This is 8th grade algebra.
Answer by scott8148(6628) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
the equation is probably simplest in slope-intercept form
the general equation is ___ y = mx + b , where m is the slope and b is the y-intercept
the slope is the amount the line goes up (or down) as it goes from left-to-right (positive x)
___ the numerical value of the slope is [change in y]/[change in x] , this is going from one point on the line to another
the y-intercept is the point on the y-axis where the line crosses the axis (intercepts it)
once you have the values for slope and y-intercept , you can just fill them into the general equation
