How to you tell if the equation is a vertical or horizontail stretch or shrink?
---------------
Example:
y = x^2
y = 3x^2 causes a vertical shrink (the parabola is narrower)
--
y = (1/3)x^2 causes a vertical stretch (the parabola is broader)
---
y = (x-2)^2 causes a horizontal shift to the right.
---
y = (x+2)^2 causes a horizontal shift to the left.
