I need help solving this problem:
Problem #39: 2x+4=8

                               2x + 4 = 8

Get rid of the 4 on the left side by adding -4 to both sides:

                           2x + 4 - 4 = 8 - 4

                                   2x = 4

Divide both sides of the equation by the coefficient of x, which is 2

                                  2x     4
                                 ———— = ———
                                   2     2

                                    x = 2
