check to make sure i don't do it wrong myself.
simply:
x-14=3(x+2) simplify 3(x+2)
x-14=3x+6 minus 6 on both sides
x-20=3x -x on both sides
-20=2x divide both sides by 2
-10=x
let's check jic
(-10)-14=3((-10)+2)
-24=-24

Solve for x:
Apply the distributive property to the right side.
Subtract x from both sides of the equation.
Subtract 6 from both sides.
Divide both sides by 2.

x = -10
