The slope of one of the lines is -1 and the slope of the other is 1, hence the two lines are NOT parallel and must intersect in a single point somewhere. Note that both lines have a -intercept of 3. They both intercept the -axis in the same point. Well, if the two lines intersect in only one point and they both intersect the -axis in the same point, the -intercept has to be the place.
