Question 326756: Two airplanes are leaving O'Hare at the same time, one bound for New York and the other for California. The one heading to California has a tail wind and is thus going 25 MPH faster than the one headed for New York. If after one hour they are 575 miles apart, what are their speeds?
Since they are 575 miles apart after 1 hour, the sum of their speed must be 575 MPH. If the slow one is going X MPH and the fast one is going X+25 MPH, then X+X+25=575. Solve for X.
I need help solving this.

Subtract 25 from both sides.
Then divide both sides by 2 and you'll have the answer.
