Question 314270: how do you solve the y intercept using these points (3,4)and (-5,-2)
Answer by checkley77(12844) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
Y=mX+b m=slope & b=the Y intercept.
(3,4)and (-5,-2)
Slope=(Y2-Y1)/(X2-X1)=(-2-4)/(-5-3)=-6/-8=3/4 ans. for the slope (m).
4=3/4*3+b
4=9/4+b
b=4-9/4
b=16/4-9/4
b=7/4 ans. for the Y intercept.
Thus the line formula is:
Y=3X/4+7/4
