Find an equation of the line containing the given pair of points
(1/4, -1/2) and (3/4, 1)
------------------------------
slope = (1--(1/2))/(3/4 - 1/4) = (3/2)/(1/2) = 3
---------------------
Form: y = mx + b
You have m = 3, and y = 1 when x = 3/4; solve for "b":
---
1 = 3(3/4) + b
b = (4/4)-(9/4) = -5/4
------------------------
Equation:
y = 3x - (5/4)
