how do u I solve by subsitution method for
x+4y=41
4x+3y=60
-----------
Solve the 1st eqn for x, since its coefficient is 1.
x = 41-4y
----------
Sub for x in the 2nd eqn
4x + 3y = 60
4(41-4y) + 3y = 60
solve for y, then sub for y into either eqn and find x.

Answer by scott8148(6628)   (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
x + 4y = 41 ___ x = 41 - 4y

substituting for x in the other equation ___ 4(41 - 4y) + 3y = 60 ___ 164 - 16y + 3y = 60

104 = 13y ___ 8 = y

substituting ___ x + 4(8) = 41 ___ x = 9
