Question 304404: find the slope if the regular price of gas is $1.26 in01/1997 and $2.31 in 01/2006

(1.26,0)
(2.31,9)
Y=mX+b where m=slope & b= the Y intercept.
m=(Y2-Y1)/(x2-X1)
m=(9-0)/(2.31-1.26)
m=9/1.05
m=8.57 is the slope.
0=8.57*1.26+b
0=10.798+b
b=-10.798
Y=8.57X-10.798
(graph 300x200 pixels, x from -3 to 3, y from -10 to 10, 8.75x -10.798).
