Ok, as far as I'm concerned, the first step is optional, but it may make it easier for you

  1. Multiply both sides by 10 to clear decimals:
    +10%2858.5%29+=+10%283.5x-6%29+ becomes +585=35x-60+
  2. add 60 to each side:
    +585+%2B+60+=+35x-60+%2B+60%29+ becomes +645=35x+
  3. Divide both sides by 35:
    +645%2F35=cross%2835%29x%2Fcross%2835%29+

  4. So, x equals +645%2F35+ (I'll let you convert it to lowest terms) (Exact answer)
    Or x equals 18.428571 (Approximate answer)
