Start at the origin (where the the x and y axis intersect)
Now move your pencil 1 unit to the right
We move 1 unit in this direction since the x-coordinate is 1 (its the first number of the pair)
Now go 1 unit up
We move 1 unit in this direction since the y-coordinate is 1 (its the second number of the pair)
Plot a point where the pencil lands
So here is the point (1,1)
Note: The point (1,1) is in the first quadrant
